Obituary from the Tennessean:

Hilda Marie Lampley Tidwell
TIDWELL, Hilda Marie Lampley. Age 86 of Bon Aqua, peacefully passed away at home on August 5, 2008. Born July 11, 1922 to Earl Demarquis I (d. 1987) and Ruby Sullivan Lampley (d. 1994) in Jingo, TN, she was the eldest of 5 children. Upon graduating from Hillsboro High School in Leiper's Fork, TN in 1940, she briefly taught at Liberty Hill School and Naomi School. During WWII, she and her sister Alma trained at Vultee Aircraft School in AL. On the 5th of July, 1946, she and former classmate, James Bernard Tidwell of Bon Aqua, were married in Ringgold, GA. An Air Force family, together, they traveled the world before returning to the Tennessee land they loved most, and joyously farmed for over twenty-five years. Their union lasted until her husband's death in 2004. In all of their travels across the United States, Japan and Labrador, she embraced the natural beauty of every locale, and instantly made each new place a loving home. In Goose Bay, Labrador, she was the only one to transform a backyard into a lush vegetable garden. She was an accomplished seamstress, enjoyed ceramics, painting, and most especially, nature's treasures. She delighted in the songs of birds, the beauty of trees, wild flowers, and above all, a gentle breeze. Her greatest achievement was nurturing seven daughters and exemplifying that a woman can be strong. She was a long-time member of the Home Demonstration Club and a life-long member of the Church of Christ. She is survived by her daughters, Winnifred Thomas, Sandra Johnson, Molly Tidwell, Berna Sovine-Percival, Jessica Armstrong (Bon Aqua), Anita Cain (Lawrenceville, GA) and Linda Beale (Tulsa, OK); son-in-law, Brian Armstrong (Bon Aqua); 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brothers, Norris and Demarquis Lampley (Fairview, TN); sister, Catherine Sullivan (Fairview, TN); brother-in-law, James Spicer (Dickson Co., TN). In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a sister, Alma Spicer (d. 2006, Dickson Co., TN) and sons-in-law, Michael Sovine (d. 1988, Bon Aqua), Russell Thomas (d. 2000, Tullahoma, TN) and Ronald Johnson (d. 2007, Bon Aqua). Be in peace, Sweet Mother. Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, August 8th from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m., and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, August 9, 2008 at 2 p.m., at the chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Five Points Church of Christ Cemetery in Bon Aqua. For those desiring, memorials may be made to the Five Points Church of Christ Cemetery Fund. TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME, (615) 446-2808.
