Beagle
Mrs. George Laymon died Saturday, Oct. 16, 1915, at her home near Beagle after a long illness. Her maiden name was Mary Jane Yardley and she was born Dec, 15, 1835, in Sanguman Co., Ill. She went to Texas when a girl and later to Butler, Mo., where she was married to Timothy Chandler on Mar. 28, 1867. They then came to Kansas and located on the farm on which she died. To them was born one child, who died in infancy. After the death of her husband Feb. 24, 1868, Mrs. Chandler lived a widow several years, after which she went to Bates Co., Mo. and in a short while was married to George Laymon in Nov. 1872. They came back to the homestead where they continuously resided until Mrs. Laymon's death on Oct. 16, 1915. She leaves her aged husband, 3 half-brothers, l half-sister, 1 niece, Mrs. Jas. Cottle, and 1 nephew, W.H.Yardley, besides a host of friends and neighbors to mourn her loss. Mrs. Laymon united with the Baptist Church at the age of 20. She was a kind, good neighbor, and will be greatly missed by her friends as well as her relatives.
Burial was in the Quaker Cemetery Monday morning following services from the Quaker church conducted by Rev. Chas. Averill.
