Anne Elizabeth Pollard was born in Pike County, Missouri on Aug 20, 1845. She married Hiram Worrell (1839-1894), who had fought as a Union soldier for the Missouri State Militia in the War Betweeen the States, following the end of hostilities. They were blessed with the following children:
Walton H., b.1867, Samuel, b.1872, Annie May, b.1874, Mary "Molly", b.1878, Bertha Grace, b.1880,Pearl May, b.1885, Dora Blaine, b.1886, & Allie, b.1888. The family made their way to Albany, Oregon after 1890 where Hiram applied for and was granted a Donation Land Claim. He had been a farmer all of his life and his children were used to a farming way of life as well. Annie Worrell became fast friends with Bessie Burkhart, the youngest daughter of Leander & Melissa Burkhart's family. One day the two women had their photos taken in town, arm in arm with each other as Bessie was going to be married soon & moving to the Gresham, Oregon area, which was about 50 miles North of Albany. Hiram died in 1894 from injuries incurred as a result of his service in the war. Anne began receiving a widow's pension and her older children helped her on the farm. She attended Bessie and Ernest Daring's wedding in Albany on Dec 27, 1905, then they parted ways, promising to write as time allowed until Bessie contracted appendicitis and died on Dec 11, 1906, just over 2 weeks prior to her 1st anniversary. All who knew Bessie were shocked & saddened with disbelief at her death. Anne attended Bessie's funeral, as did most of the town of Albany for the Burkharts were a well known Pioneer family, having been a part of Albany since 1847 and Bessie had been not only well known but well liked. All who attended felt very sad & rather numb. Anne had lost her husband in 1894 & would never remarry, choosing to remain a widow because of the love she had for Hiram. Now she had lost her special friend, Bessie, 12 years later. Anne lived in the home Hiram had built on the donation land claim, keeping it up until 1915. She lived to be 90 years old, passing from this life on Nov 9th, 1935 and is buried with Hiram at Riverside Cemetery in Albany, Linn County, Oregon, the same cemetery where her friend, Bessie (Burkhart) Daring is also buried, along with her husband, Ernest, who passed in 1933. May they all Rest In Peace.
