Thomas J. Tarpy, 76, of New Hampton, formerly of Cedar Rapids and Independence, died Sunday, Aug. 3, at Mercy Medical Center, New Hampton, following a long illness.
He was born April 2, 1932, near Monti, son of Francis A. and Mary Ann Zieser Tarpy. He was a 1950 graduate of Troy Mills High School, and was employed with the Collins Radio Co., Cedar Rapids, until his retirement.
Survived by: a sister, Marie Siglin of Ionia; and a brother, Frank of Independence.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Catholic Church, Independence, with burial in the church cemetery. Public visitation from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence, with a 3 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. parish vigil service.
