Gerald E. 'Griz' England, 52, of Sullivan died 9:12 p.m. sunday (April 15, 2001) in St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in First Christian Church, Sullivan, with the Rev. Dr. David Leslie officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the church. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery, Sullivan. McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Sullivan, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials: England Family Education Fund or Moultrie County Chapter of American Cancer Society.

Mr. England was born Feb. 1, 1949, in Decatur, the son of Ernest and Mary Risley England. He was Moultrie County clerk, a member of Kiwanis Club and the CEFS Board and attended First Christian Church of Sullivan. He married Georgia Purcell June 2, 1974, in Sullivan.

Surviving are his wife; sons, A. Michael Hoff II of Memphis, Tenn.; Ernest Scott England of Sullivan; daughters, Angela M. Block of Bolingbrook; Jodi A. England of Decatur; grandchildren, Cailin and Ethan Block of Sullivan; mother, Mary England of Sullivan; sisters, Carroll Sebens, Marilyn Leonard, Betty 'Babe' Mode, Judy Featheringill and donna Holland, all of Sullivan.

He was preceded in death by his father.
