Native of Lincoln County Dies At Home of Daughter; Body Returned To Hager For Burial
__________________________________________ John Adkins, 72 years old, died Friday 10:30pm at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Erma Adkins, at 2137 Ohio Ave East End, East Liverpool, Ohio, after an illness of eight months. Mr. Adkins was born May 14th, 1869, at Hager, this county, a son of James Willis Adkins and Elizabeth Burns Adkins. He resided in East Liverpool, Ohio, for about 17 years. He was employed by the Pittsburgh Crucible Steel Co. at Midland, PA, until his last illness. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He leaves his widow, Mrs. Elizabeth Adkins; six sons, Ezra Adkins, Roy Adkins, Roma E. Adkins and Raymond Adkins, all of East Liverpool, Britton Adkins of Midland, PA, and Alvie Adkins of Detroit; four daughters, Mrs. Erma Adkins, Miss Mabel Adkins and Mrs. Sheba Collins of East Liverpool, and Mrs. Stella Smith of Smiths Ferry; five brothers, Dietz Adkins and Moss Adkins of Hamlin, Ambrose Adkins and Alphus Adkins, and Walker Adkins of Hager; four sisters, Rhoda Adkins and Jerusha Adkins of Hamlin, Mrs. Lilly Cooper of Hager, and Mrs. Tina Trimley of Logan. Services were held in the home of his daughter, Erma Adkins, in East Liverpool, Saturday night with Elders J.C. Howell and James Cornie of Youngstown officiating. The body was brought to Hamlin Sunday and services were held at Hager on Monday. Burial was in the Walker Adkins Cemetery.
