15 month old baby whose parents, Carl and Raylene Worthington, were members of Oregon City's Followers of Christ Church which has been in the news because many of its followers participate in 'faith healing' rather than conventional medicine. Ava died from bacterial bronchial pneumonia and a blood infection that according to officials with Clackamas County was treatable. Ava's parents were prosecuted on wrongful death charges, but the mother, who became pregnant again during the trial in 2009, was found 'Not Guily', while her husband Carl was found 'Guilty' and sentenced to 3 months. The Worthington's also lost another child in 2001 that was reportedly a stillborn that was 3 months premature, and in that case as well they had not sought professional medical attention.
