SOUTH BELOIT, Ill. -- A memorial service was held Friday (May 14, 2004) for Diane Elaine Pence Barnes, 53, of South Beloit, Ill., at Rosman, Uehling, Kinzer Funeral Home in Beloit, Wis. Officiating were Rev. Jim Hagen of Plymouth Methodist Church, Beloit, and Lance Bifulk.

Mrs. Barnes died Tuesday (May 11, 2004) at Beloit Memorial Hospital, following a short illness.

She was born March 18, 1951 in Watseka, Ill., to LeRoy and Pauline(Chase)Pence.

She is survived by her children, Chad (Dawn) Barnes of Beloit, Wis., and Casie (Andy) LaChance of Janesville, Wis.; her mother, Pauline Goldsby of Gilman, Ill.; two granddaughters, Maggie Barnes and Lexie LaChance; two sisters, Marilyn (Jim) Schroeder of Gilman, Ill., and Candice (Bill) Howard of Kuttawa, Ky.; one brother, Jack (Alice) Pence of Gilman; several aunts, uncles; many cousins, nieces, nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, LeRoy Pence; stepfather, Kenneth Goldsby; paternal grandparents, Carl and Mary Pence,maternal grandparents Charles and Iva Chase; several aunts, uncles and nephews.

Diane attended Gilman schools, graduating with the Class of 1969 and was a graduate of Mid-State Business College in Peoria, Ill.

She was a Realtor for several years, then worked for Monterey Mills in management and human relations for 20 years in Janesville, Wis., and for a short time while living in Corpus Christi, Texas.

She lived in Texas for five years, then moved back to the South Beloit area to be closer to her family members, especially her two granddaughters.

At the time of her death, she was employed by Avid Pallet, a division of ABC Supply Co., of Beloit, as Operations Manager.

Diane was an avid Chicago Bears fan.
