Mabel Paige Amos Morris, 86, of Rocky Mount, went to be with her Lord on Monday, August 11, 2008. She was a member of Franklin Heights Baptist Church, a graduate of Radford College with a degree in elementary education and taught school for 38 years teaching in Bedford, Henry and retired from Franklin County Public Schools. Mabel was preceded in death by her parents, George Washington and Elizabeth Catherine Bowles Amos; her husband, William Raymond Morris; her siblings, Lillian Tyree, Bessie Woody, Sallie Fisher, Grace Gregory, Ray Amos, Jesse Amos, Guy Amos and Reg Amos; and a special nephew, Dennis Gregory. She is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Ginger and Harlan O. Bowman, of Boones Mill; her grandson and his wife, Major William Joseph (Joe) and Anita Bowman, of Fort Drum, N.Y.; loving and sweet greatgranddaughters, Ariel G. and Davina M. Bowman, of Fort Drum, N.Y.; very special friend (her angel), Pam Perdue and husband, Kenny, also Natalie White, Marsha Tyree and Lashara Crump. Surviving nieces and nephews include, Jean Swisher, Amos Fisher, Rebecca Stanley, Donald Amos, Annette Bowman, George T. Amos, Dr. Francis Amos, Reginald Amos and Dale Amos; and many great and greatgreat-nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, August 14, 2008. from Flora Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Joe R. Bryant officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. The family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society of the Roanoke Valley, for Colon Cancer Research, 2840 Electric Road, Suite 106A, Roanoke, Va. 24018 or to the Military Family Support Center, P.O. Box 1122, Salem, Va. 24153. The family wishes to express a very special thank you Pheasant Ridge Rehab, to the Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, all the nurses on 8MSICU, 8MPCU and 8 West, the hospitalist, the S.W. Virginia Gastroenterology Doctors, Carilion Palliative teams and Carilion Hospice, also her family physician Dr. J. Francis Amos, his nurse, Cindy Custer, and Dr. Al Hagy. Her family will be receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2008, at Flora Funeral Service, 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount, Va.
