Civil War Union Army Officer. Mustered in as a Private in Company D, 11th Pennsylvania Volunteer Cavalry on September 11, 1861, he was promoted to 1st Lieutenant of Company H on December 27, 1861. Promoted to Captain and commander of the unit on February 27, 1864, he served until he was discharged at the expiration of his term on February 13, 1865.
