Born at Frederick City. Son of Lewis B. Eader and Catherine Brengle, who was daughter of Nicholas Brengle and Mary Mantz, who was daughter of Major Peter Mantz (Aide-de-camp to Gen. George Washington) and Catherine Hauer (sister of Barbara Hauer Fritchie). Served U.S.A. as a volunteer in Company I., First Maryland Regiment, Potomac Home Brigade, 1861-4. Participated in the defense of Harper's Ferry and in the battle of Gettysburg. Was Commander of Gen. John F. Reynolds Post, No. 2, Department of Maryland, G.A.R., 1905-6, 1914 to his death.
