Dorothy Bartlett Stith
Dorothy Bartlett Stith, 89, died August 4, 2008 in Raymore. She had been in declining health for about three years.
Dorothy was born on February 2, 1919, in Morton Mills, Iowa, the daughter of James R. Hand and Nancy Mattingly Hand.
The Hand family left Morton Mills in 1926 and moved to East Lynne and then to Pleasant Hill in 1941.
Dorothy attended school in Pleasant Hill and graduated from Pleasant Hill High School in 1935.
She married Clinton Bartlett on June 14, 1936. On Nov. 12, 1965 she married Orgil Stith in Pleasant Hill. He preceded her in death on April 19, 2001.
The Bartletts lived in Kansas City until 1980 when they moved to Nevada, Missouri. They later moved to the Raymore/ Belton community in 1982.
Dorothy had been a a receptionist for Koch Supplies for 20 years until her retirement in 1980.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Orgil Stith; son, Michael Bartlett; three brothers, Charlie Hand, Kenneth Hand and Floyd Hand; two sisters, Evelyn Burchett and Kathryn Blake.
She is survived by her son and his wife, Richard and Judith Bartlett of Kansas City; daughter-in-law; Martha Bartlett of Olathe; three grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two stepsons, Donald Stith of Harrison, Ark. and Dennis E. Stith of Macon; five step grandchildren and seven step great grandchildren and many other relatives.
Funeral services were August 8, 2008, at the Wallace Funeral Home.
Rev. Kent Deubner officiated. Members of the family served as pallbearers. Burial was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
