Charles W. Osman, 71, of Boalsburg, formerly of State College, died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2001, at Centre Community Hospital. Born March, 15, 1930, in Pine Grove Mills, he was a son of the late Fred and Tessie Reed Osman. On Dec. 18, 1949, he married Joyce E. Ripka, who died July 22, 1990. He served in the Korean War in the U.S. Air Force as a staff sergeant with the air police. He was a sanitation engineer with the State College Borough, retiring in 1988 after 30 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion Post 245 in State College. He was a member of the Pine Grove Mills Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon. He is survived by two daughters, Deborah R. Wolfe and Brenda J. Young, both of Bellefonte; two sons, Lee R. of Pleasant Gap and Charles W. II of Denver; two brothers, George of Ontario, Canada, and Lewis of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Eloise B. Kyper Funeral Home, 1034 Benner Pike in College Township. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Carl D. Campbell officiating. Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 501 Howard Ave., Altoona, PA 16601.
