MCLEAN-Nov. 29-The public was shocked to hear that Irwin Mason had committed suicide Friday night by taking laudanum at the Powers hotel in Rochester. Irwin Mason had lived all his life near McLean until nearly two years ago he moved with his wife to a farm near Drydem. Tuesday, he said he was going to Elmira and nothing more was known until the news of his death reached his family on Saturday. His father-in-law, C. M. Dutcher and his brother, A. R. Mason returned with the remains on Sunday afternoon and the funeral, which will be private, will be held at C. M. Dutcher's Tuesday at 12 o'clock. Nothing but kind words are spoken of the dceased, who had a host of friends in this vicinity, and much sympathy is expressed for Mrs. Mason and the brother who are so suddenly stricken with sorrow. No reason is known for the rash act.
