"Man Takes Own Life; In Ill Health - R W Bennett, 63, Found In Garage; Car Was Running - Ralph W Bennett, 63, of 363 Bank street, was found dead in his garage shortly after 7 am yesterday morning by his son, Lawrence Bennett of Titusville, Route 1. Dr C M Sonne, deputy coroner of Crawford County, issued a certificate of suicide. Death was caused by carbon monoxide fumes, he said. The body of Mr Bennett was found against the rear of the car in a seated position and the car's motor was running. The garage was shut. Mr Bennett, who operated a filling station in Titusville for a number of years before selling the business last December, was in poor health. Born in Spartansburg on Dec 22, 1888, he was the son of Alex and Eva Blakeslee Bennett. He married Miss Elizabeth Smith of Titusville on Sept 2, 1911. He was a carpenter by trade and his last work was at the Penn-Drake filling station on South Franklin street, of which he was proprietor. Besides his wife, Mr Bennett leaves three sons, Carl and Harold, both of Titusville, and Lawrence of Titusville, Route 1; a daughter, Mrs Frank Voss of Oak Ridge, Ky; a brother, William Bennett of Hydetown; a sister, Mrs Harry Oviatt of Titusville, and 10 grandchildren. Friends may call at the Tracy home of funerals at any time. Services will be held there at 2 pm on Thursday with Rev Charles A Fuller, pastor of the Centerville Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be in the Spartansburg cemetery."
