Pryor served in the 2nd Tennessee Infantry during the Civil War.

He was married to Phariba Hughett (1840-1923)whom he married February 24, 1859 and to Elizabeth Byrd whom he married October 15, 1865.

He is buried on land that he used to own but that is now part of a subdivision. He, his wife and 2 infant sons are buried on Choctaw Indian land between two houses behind some bushes.
