Martha was born in Goldendorf, Russia and was the eldest surviving daughter of Andreas Fischer 1879–1933 Magdalene Renz 1877–1949. Martha and her family came to America aboard the SS Haverford 13 Jun 1910.

Martha married William J Annis in 1924 in South Dakota.
