He was honorably discharged June 20, 1865, in camp on field. He had two brothers in the late war: Thomas and Nimrod: his wife's brother John also served. Comrade Beers was Sergt of Trowell Post; he is a laborer and his address is Fallen Timber, Pennsylvania.
The following "Notes On Glendale" are written by Mrs. Perry Esch of Flinton R.D., whose mother was raised on the farm located right at the forks of the Slate Lick and Beaver Dam Runs where the new state park dam breastwork will be. Mrs. Esch has some of this information from her mother, and some of it she remembers from her childhood days: "Before 1863, or the Civil War days, a house was built or occupied by Ben Beers, who was married to Fianna Rowels, a niece of Mrs. Gates', atop the hill between the streams. Next a farm was located there."
