After a valiant struggle with cancer, Owen Brent Orton, 61, died August 28, 2002 at his home in Panguitch. A home he spent a lifetime acquiring and was so very proud of.

Brent was born March 15, 1941 in Panguitch, to Lawrence and Hazel Woodward Orton. He married JoAnn Howard on October 20, 1966 in Las Vegas, Nevada and she preceded him in death on December 1, 2001.

Brent loved Panguitch and had no desire to ever leave the city limits. He spent his entire life here raising his family, making a living, and enjoying the good people.

Brent enjoyed his work and took great pride in being dependable and punctual. He especially enjoyed and looked forward to visiting with his many friends each morning at the Post Office. He loved his children and grandchildren dearly; they were the highlight of his life.

He is survived by his son, Jason (Annette) Orton of Panguitch; daughter, Nida (David) Blair of Littleton, Colorado; grandchildren, Tawnya Veater, Tasha Hasse, Kesley McCallum and Jantzen and Kapri Orton; sister and brothers, Donna Mae Johnson, Gary and Bob Orton and sister-in-law Alta Orton, all of Panguitch.

He was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn; daughter Susan Hasse, son Lawrence Orton; parents, grandparents and a brother, Don Orton.
