Virginia attended Idabel Public Schools until 1937. She was a manicurist in Dallas, Texas, and in Highland Park, California. She also owned and operated and apartment complex with three businesses and 11 apartments. She and her husband, Jim, loved deep sea fishing. She was an accomplished artist.
She was preceded in death by brother, Milton "Jack" Whitten; her husband, Jim Rasp; a sister, Billy Jean Whitten, and two nephews: Dallas Cole Whitten and James Michael Sharp.
Virginia is survived by three sisters: Mary Jane Whitten Brown of Rowlett, Texas, Pat Whitten Cavender and husband James, and Dimple Ramona Whitten Sharp, Idabel; two brothers: Bobby Whitten and wife Jane, and Sonny Whitten and wife Linda; numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, great-nieces and great nephews and many friends.
Virginia is also survived by a special niece, Susan Rasp Folkes of Buena Park, California. As Virginia had no children, Susan was dedicated to seeing about Virginia, and having her home for the holidays. Virginia was laid to rest on Monday, July 21, 2008, at Roosevelt Memorial Park & Mortuary, Gardena, California.
