Robert Jackson Adams, age 71, of Kingman, Ariz. went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 14, 2008. He went peacefully in his sleep.

He was born in Prescott, Ariz. on August 11, 1937, the third child of five children of Albert and Geneva Adams who were pioneers in Arizona.

Bob attended school in Mayer, graduated from Tempe High School and attended Arizona State University and Bob Jones University where he met his wife Roberta.

Bob moved to Mohave County in the early stages of growth along the Colorado River in 1968. He was very active in the development of many Bullhead City subdivisions. He owned Specialty Contractors and was involved in installing underground utilities in Mojave County and many parts of Arizona.

He retired from Specialty Contractors in 2002 and moved to Kingman. As anyone who knows Bob knows he did not really retire. He just moved on to doing any and everything that came along to keep him busy. The word RETIRE just was not in his vocabulary. In fact, he was working Monday right up to the time he went to sleep and passed away peacefully.

Bob's many years of volunteer work included 34 years of ministry at Riviera Baptist Church of Bullhead City. He served in many areas of the church including teaching, serving as deacon, preaching, youth work, bus ministry, and construction.

He also did volunteer work with the Kiwanis Club helping to build soccer, softball, and baseball parks for the youth in Bullhead City. At one time, he served on the Bullhead City Council for four years. He also served as President of the Southwest Conservative Baptist Convention. He installed the water and sewer systems at Prescott Church Camp.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Derwin, and a granddaughter, Amy.

Bob is survived by his wife of 46 years, Roberta; daughter, Kristi Koerber, of Las Vegas; son, Steven and his wife Shelly, of Mojave Valley; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Gillespie, Darrel Adams, Donald Koerber III, Alyssa Lavigne; two step-grandchildren, Michal and Thather Bader; one great-grandchild Malahai Gillespie; two brothers, Wayne Adams and wife Mary Ellen, of Mesa, Ariz. and Larry Adams and wife Robbie, of Bullhead City; and sister, Carolyn Fairell and husband Gary, of Apache Junction.

Bob had a heart for young people and helped many, many youngsters financially, spiritually, and emotionally, just trying to help them grow up to be productive adults. His home was always open to the kids who needed help.

Memorial Service will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at Riviera Baptist Church on Marina Blvd. Pastor
Tom Helfin and nephew Mark Reeder(pastor of Chino Valley 1st Baptist) will officiate.

Graveside Services will be Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. in Prescott, Ariz. at the Arizona Pioneers Cemetery.

The service was held on Tuesday, Aug. 19 in Bullhead City at Riviera Baptist Church which Bob built from the ground up and where he and Roberta served for 34 years before moving to Kingman. The pastor of the church, plus his nephew, Mark Reeder (pastor of Chino Valley 1st Baptist) and the asst. pastor of Roberta & Bob's church in Kingman officiated. There were over 300 people there (at least 300 + signed the guest book) and the service lasted 2 hours because so many people wanted to tell their stories about how Bob had helped them, or the boy scout camp, church camp, Rotary club and I could go on and on. Young people told how he had helped them straighten out their lives, businessmen told how he had helped them in their businesses, etc. Unbelievable! The 3 pastors said they had never in all their combined years of officiating at memorial services had such a service!
