Mrs. Belle Barrett Sweeney, aged 74, widow of James N Sweeney, died Tuesday morning at 10:15 o'clock at her home, 816 Columbia avenue, Williamstown following a critical illness of three weeks resulting from a broken hip. She was a daughter of the late Isaac and Irene Barrett, and in early life became a member of the Christian church in Washington, PA. For the past several years she had been active in the Baptist church in Williamstown. For many years, Mrs. Sweeney was a teacher in the rural schools of Tyler county. She leaves five daughters, Mrs. Lillian Johnson of Waverly, Mrs. Irene Nelson of Grove City, PA, Mrs. Inez Kingsley of Massillon, OH, Mrs. Ruby Clarke of Akron and Mrs. Elma Huggins of Williamstown, one son, Harry Sweeney of Akron O, three step children, Rodney Sweeney of Charleston, Mollie Miller of Pennsboro, and Homer Sweeney of Waverly, three sisters, Mrs. Blanche Kelch of Sistersville, Mrs. Jennie Livingston of New Lexington Ohio, Mrs. Anna Collins of Parkersburg and two brothers, George Barrett of Middlebourne and John Barrett of New Matamoras Ohio. Services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in the First baptist church in Williamstown by the Rev. David A Harper. The body will be at Corbitt Mortuary at Waverly until one hour before the service when it will be removed to the church. Interment will be made in the K of P cemetery.
