Hungarian Royalty. Youngest daughter of Vincenzo I, Duke of Mantua and Montferrat and Eleonore de Medici. She married the widowed Ferdinand II in 1622 in Innsbruck. In the summer of the same year she was crowned queen of Hungary at St Martin's Cathedral in Bratislava. Five years later she was also crowned queen of Bohemia at Prague. Although she had little influence on her husband the marriage seem to have been happy. She founded Carmelite convents in Graz and Vienna and had the Herzgruft (Heart Vault) in St Augustin built. The marriage stayed childless but she was a loving stepmother to Ferdinands children from his first marriage. She died in Vienna and was buried in the Carmelite convent from where her body was moved to St Stephan in 1782. Her heart rests beside her husband in Graz.
