When Leon was 9 or 10 years old, his mother moved him and his brothers and sisters to Illinois. A few years later the family moved to Iowa.

Married Susan Anna DeCamp (daughter of Gideon DeCamp & Elizabeth Dougal) on December 02, 1874 in Sac County, Iowa.

After marrying Susan, the family moved to Nebraska, and lived in a dugout home for 2 or 3 years, then returned to Sac County, Iowa and lived on a farm. In 1901, they moved to a farm in Kandiyohi County, Minnesota, on the south shore of Nest Lake near Spicer, Minnesota.

Leon was an industrious, hard-working man, and was possessed with a cooperative spirit. He also had the ability to make friends wherever he went. He was an ardent believer, and was ready and willing to die. Leon lived in the Bethesda Homes for 2 years previous to his death on 29Sep1939. He died from the infirmities of old age, and is buried in the Eagle Lake Cemetery.
