Sergeant, a combat engineer with 12 Field Squadron, 1 Combat Engineer Regiment based in Edmonton, Alberta. Aged 33, he grew up in Hamilton, Ontario and joined the military at 18. He was serving his third tour of duty with the Canadian contingent of NATO forces in Afghanistan.

He was one of three Canadian soldiers killed and another injured after a roadside bomb detonated near their vehicle while on patrol in Zhari district, Kandahar province.

Sgt Eades was respected for his outstanding professionalism and remembered as a devoted father who liked to share stories with his children with colleagues and friends. He is survived by his wife Lisa Schamehorn, their daughters Breanna and Niya, mother Beverly, brother David, sister Tamara and other relatives.

Military funeral held on Thursday, August 28, 2008 at Beechwood National Memorial Centre, Ottawa.

A total of 93 Canadian soldiers and one diplomat have died since the Afghan mission started in 2002.
