Larry was a research sociologist(Ph.D.)at UCLA in the department of medicine center for the health sciences, Los Angeles, CA. He earned his Ph.D at the University of Wisconsin at Madison. Upon his death, he donated money and property allowing the construction of the Linn House, 1001 Martel Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90046. The house was a hospice for AIDS patients in the Los Angeles Area.

The AIDS Healthcare Foundation opened Linn House, its third hospice, on donated land near West Hollywood in 1995. Within two years, lifesaving antiretroviral drugs changed the course of the epidemic, and in 1999 the foundation turned Linn House into offices for social workers and administrators and meeting rooms for support groups.
