Elizabeth Ann was the daughter of Richard and Christena (Bechtel) Cutter. Her father died in 1840 and her mother married Thomas Patterson of Wayne County Ohio in 1847. Thomas had previously been married to Hannah Elizabeth Ammerman and they had one daughter - Hannah Elizabeth.

Elizabeth had two Cutter siblings: George W. who married Malissa Jane Spore (sister of Zenas S. Spore) who died in Illinois and later May F. Hutz; and Richard S. who married Elizabeth Ownens.

The Patterson family moved to Effingham Co., IL. sometime after 1850. There were four more children added to this family: Lewis ca. 1849, James Wesley in 1851, Mary ca. 1854 and John W. in 1855. Lewis and Mary died as children sometime between 1865 and 1870 presumably in Illinois.

Elizabeth first married John J. Allsop in Effingham Co., IL on August 21, 1856. John was the son of John and Mary (Slater) Allsop. He died of typhoid fever on October 23, 1865 in Effingham Co., IL. Two known children were born of this union: Mary Elizabeth, in 1857 who married Frank Pierce Hinkle in Harvey Co. Kansas and Jennie Martha in 1861 who married George Konantz in Harvey Co., Kansas.

Elizabeth married Zenas S. Spore in Clinton, Dewitt Co., IL on November 28, 1867. They had four known children: Ellen born October 7, 1868 in Illinois and died there on January 12, 1869; Susie E. born May 2, 1870 in Clinton Co. Missouri while they were on their way to Kansas. Susie died June 17, 1882 as a result of burns incurred while she was trying to light a cook stove with kerosene oil; Georgia Grace born July 21, 1877 who married Andrian Wright; and Ezra Leland Spore born Feb. 22, 1880 who married Nina Frances Clarkson.

The Patterson family and Spore family lived near each other in Kansas - Harvey Co., Macon Twp. Thomas Patterson and his two sons James and John W. along with their families returned to Effingham Co., IL sometime prior to 1900.

Elizabeth made her home with her daughter, Georgia Grace after her husband's death. Her obituary reads that her death came as a shock as she had not been in robust health but appeared as active as usual.

Remembered as a kind neighbor and friend, services were held in Newton and burial was beside her husband.
