Arnie E. Varju, 85, of Fuquay Varnia, N.C., formerly of Boone County, W.Va., departed this life Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008, at Rex Hospital, Raleigh, N.C., after an extended illness.
Born June 2, 1923, at Hewett, she was the daughter of the late George Custer and Lola Motes Ferrell Dent. Mrs. Varju was also preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Varju.
Mrs. Varju was married to Jimmy Varju on Oct. 14, 1956, and became a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Survivors include her, son, Jimmie R. Varju and fiancée, Brooke Claypool, of Fuquay Varnia, N.C.; daughter, Sandy Boggs and husband, Bob, of Ohio; sister, Aurella Pauley of Jeffrey; grandchildren, Scott Varju and wife, Candice, Jasmine Varju, Terry Priebe, David Priebe, Curtis Patterson and Brenna Claypool; great-grandchildren, Maddison Varju, Tessa Varju, Gianna Varju, Jeremy Knezeak, and Dayhmon Priebe; and niece, Carol Boyer of Charleston.
Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, at Stevens Funeral Home, Madison. Friends may call one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
