She was born on February 17, 1919 in Sheboygan Falls, a daughter of the late Tobias and Mary (Arthofer) Lang.
In 1936, Frieda graduated from Sheboygan Falls High School and then attended the Sheboygan Vocational School.
She worked in the Accounting Department at Wisconsin Public Service Corporation in Sheboygan, where she met her husband, Herbert Hasenstein.
The couple was married at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sheboygan on April 26, 1941. Following this, Frieda worked briefly for Johnson and Johnson in New Brunswick, New Jersey, while her husband, Herbert, prepared for service in World War II.
After his return from Europe in 1945, the couple settled in Sheboygan and started a family.
Frieda enjoyed volunteering and worked at the Aurora Memorial Medical Center Gift Shop for 40 years. She was also a volunteer for Bethesda Thrift Shop and the American Red Cross and a member of the Wisconsin Public Service Women's Club, the Ladies' Aide at Luther Memorial Church, and the Homemakers Association of Sheboygan. She was also employed for a short time at Morningside Nursing Home.
A true family woman, Frieda took great pride in raising her children and watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow. She will be dearly missed by all those blessed to know her.
She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Herbert W. Hasenstein of Sheboygan; three children, Patricia (Robert) Fenton of Charlotte, North Carolina, Glen (Linda) Hasenstein of Sheboygan, and Marilyn (John) Van Der Puy of Sheboygan; twelve grandchildren, Angela (Timothy) Brunette, Bradley (Amy) Hasenstein, Timothy (Ann) Hasenstein, Ben Hasenstein, Joseph (Kristi) Hasenstein, Sarah Van Der Puy, and Jenna Van Der Puy, all of Sheboygan, Nicole (Christopher) Cotton of Garner, North Carolina, James Fenton of Queens, New York, William (Angela) Hasenstein of Cleveland, Wisconsin, Rachel (David) Grycan of Hales Corner, Wisconsin and Michelle (Mark) Casper of Chicago, Illinois. She is also survived by fourteen great-grandchildren, Amber, Cassie, Brittany, Devon, Derrick, Hayden, Hunter, Hannah, Megan, Zachary, Samuel, Colin, Emily, and Jack Michael. In addition, she is survived by a brother, Willard (Diane) Lang of Sheboygan; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law Harvey and Marion Hasenstein of Racine, Wisconsin; along with many nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Tobias and Mary Lang of Sheboygan Falls and two sisters, Hilda (Fritz) Kelling and Eleanore (Walter) Kuhlow.
Burial will take place at Sheboygan Falls Cemetery.
