RECEIVE NEWS OF DEATH OF MRS. ABBE
-------------
The following with reference to the death of a former resident of Belvidere has been sent to The Republican by Mrs. J. H. Adams, of Chicago, a sister of the late Charles Abbe. Mr. and Mrs. Abbe will be well remembered by many of the other older residents here, having lived in Belvidere a considerable time ago for many years, then going to Florida to make their home:

"Mrs. Charlotte Scofield Abbe, widow of the late Charles E. Abbe, died suddenly March 6th at the home of her son-in-law, Dr. F. C. Whitaker, in Brandentown, Florida.

"Mrs. Abbe was spending the winter in Florida, her home being in Elgin, Ill., where she had resided many years, coming there soon after the death of her husband, to care for her aged father, D. C. Scofield.

She will be mourned by many relatives and friends besides her sister, Mrs. Hickok, her five grand children, and her daughters, Mrs. Carrier Kleinoscheg, and Mrs. Nellie Whitaker, both of whom were caring for her in her last hour of need."
