Husband of 62 years to: Loraine (Shipp) married July 25, 1942. Loraine preceded him in death in 2004.

Father to 5 daughters: Earlene Reeves, Janice Lucas, Susan McLaughlin, Darlene Harvey, and youngest, their foster daughter Sandra Strode.

He was an Army veteran of WWII, having served as a medic in the 335th Infantry. He was awarded two Bronze Stars with oak leaf clusters and several other citations for bravery in Germany and Belgium.
