Solomon Myers was the son of Peter Myers and Elizabeth Slice. According to written family history, the Myers family came from Austria (Roman Empire) between 1732 and 1734. They originally settled in the North Eastern part of the United States.
Solomon Myers was born October 29, 1817 in Washington County, Maryland. The Dutch Mennonite family would move from Maryland into Ohio and parts of Canada. Solomon settled in Putnam County, Ohio where he would marry Mary Shank (daughter of Michael Shank and Barbara Wideman) on Nov 17, 1842.
The couple would go on to have 13 children; Peter S- 1843, Sarah- 1845, Abraham-1846, John- 1848, Solomon Jr- 1850, David-1852, Susanna- 1854, Mary Elizabeth- 1855, Christian Joseph- 1858, Jemima- 1860, Sophia-1862, Daniel- 1864 , Martha A- 1868.
