"G.A.R. Veteran To Be Buried in Old Home In Oklahoma"

"Orange, Nov. 3.--The body of Amos Backman, Civil War veteran, who died Friday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A. G. Ingle, 327 Maple avenue, following a cerebral hemorrhage which came upon him while he was conversing good naturedly with a group of friends in the plaza. will be sent to Seiling, Okla. for burial, it was announce today.
Bachman, who was a member of the Orange post of the G.A.R. at Seiling, but had been spending the winters in this city with his daughter.
Surviving him are two daughters, Mrs. A. G. Ingle of this city and Mrs. N. N. Jacobs, Pale Verde, Arizona and five sons, W. O. Bachman, Wichita, Kansas; E. A. Bachman, Canton, Oklahoma; R. B. Bachman, Seiling, Oklahoma; A. L. Bachman, Seiling, Oklahoma, and Louis Backman of Tustin, California"

He married Mary Ellen Moody on 14 Nov 1868. Nine children were born to this union: William Otis, Vesta Alice, Lewis Orville, Harry Amos, Mary Josephine, Robert Gregory, Abraham Lincoln, Earle Errit, and Sally Bachman.
