Leroy married on the stage at Minerva Park, Columbus, Ohio, before and audience of 28,000 people, September 13, 1896, Mamie Drewcella Banker-Melville, daughter of Anna Eliz Howser and Newton Adrian Birdsell Banker-Melville.
He began in theatricals in 1887 and eventually had his own showboat and show. As the showboat era ended, he and Mamie traveled with Quillen, Jack Ripple, Jethro Almond and other touring repertoire organizations. In their acts, he played the piano, Mamie acted, and their children did skits.
He was engaged in the entertainment business most of his life and was a pianist in showboats on the Ohio River. Late in life, he was a member of the Moose Lodge No. 150 and Eagles Lodge of Anderson, Indiana. He was a musician with the Eagles and Moose degree teams.
They had three children:
1. Mamie Eliza Lesser, b. 1898; d. 1898
2. Bertand LeRoy Lesser, b. 1901; d. 1971
3. Kathryn LaVerna Lesser, b. 1905; liv. 1947
