Mary Florence Barnett, 85, of Springfield, died Monday afternoon, Aug. 25, 2008, at her residence. Mary was born April 27, 1923 in Jacksonville, the daughter of Terrance E. and Daisy Irene Steere Watkins. She married Allen D. "Barney" Barnett on May 1, 1948. He preceded her in death in 1991.
Mary was a homemaker and was retired from the State of Illinois Department of Revenue.
She is survived by her son, Ted (wife, Linda) Treece of Waverly; her daughters, Pam Barnett of Springfield, Shelley (husband, Patrick) Ruyle of Evergreen, Colo., and Cathy (husband, Ronald) Fagan of Springfield; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and her brother, Donald Lee Watkins of Litchfield Park, Ariz.; in addition to several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Also preceding Mary in death were her parents; and two brothers, John and Earl Alexander Watkins.
Services were entrusted to Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home of Springfield, Illinois.
