She was preceded in death by two sisters, Elisabeth Leighton and Florence Dayton, two brothers, Charles Pence and Leonard Pence and one brother who died at birth.
She was a graduate of Beverly High School and Davis & Elkins College. She became a teacher and taught in various schools in Randolph County, the last being Elkins where she retired after forty-one and one half years of teaching.
She was a member of the Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church.
