Eddie was born August 4, 1967 in Shreveport, Louisiana and passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2007 following a brief illness. He is at peace, total peace in the loving arms of his Savior; no more struggles, no more pain. He fought most of his life against the evil addictions of this world, never able to conquer them but always knowing that there is a mightier power in the loving grace of the Lord Jesus Christ. There was another side to Eddie; the son, the brother, the uncle, the nephew, the friend. He was loving, witty, always willing to help anyone. Eddie was a trim carpenter by trade; he enjoyed his work, loved music and playing his guitar.
He is preceded in death by his father, Powell Edward Carpenter III, his paternal grandmother, Opal Roberts and his maternal grandparents J.B. and Reba Alfred. He is survived by his mom and dad, Judy and Curtis Patterson; brothers, Steve and wife, Natalie and Derek Patterson; sisters, Kelly Carver and husband, Heath, Shari Bates and husband Mike, and Lindsay West and husband, Johnnie; four nephews and four nieces and two of the most loving and caring aunts, Becki Chanberlain and Mona Cross and their families. Eddie was so blessed to have had numerous supportive family members and friends.
Pallbearers will be Mike Patterson, Rob Mottet, Kevin McCarty, Joe Baugh, Stacy Hall and Jeff Whitaker.
The family would like to express our heartfelt thanks to all who supported us through prayer and to John Baum for the many hours he sat with Eddie during his illness. We would also like to thank Dr. Marco Ramos, his PA-C, Maribeth Forrest and the staff at Willis-Knighton North for their wonderful care and support.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Christian organization of their choice.
