Thorvald W. Rasmussen, son of Peter and Karen Olsen Rasmussen, was
born November 16, 1897 at Bennett, Nebraska. He departed from this
life on February 24, 1977 in St. Paul, Nebraska at the age of 79 years.
As a young boy, Thorvald moved with his family to the st. Paul area. It
was in this area that Thorvald received his education at District No. 42
and grew to manhood. As a young man Thorvald farmed until his
marriage to Ruth Garner on March 19, 1919 at York, Nebraska.
The couple then made their home at Grand Island Nebraska for a year
and a half while Thorvald worked for the Union Pacific Railroad. In 1920
the couple moved to the St. Paul area to farm and here Thorvald and
Ruth have continued to made their home for the last 57 years.
He was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of St. Paul and
St. Paul Lodge No. 82, AF&AM also of St. Paul.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth; two sons, Glenn of St. Paul and Daryl of
Seattle, Washington; one daughter, Mrs. Melvin (Francel) Jeffres of St.
Paul; two brothers, Harold Rasmussen of St. Paul and Elvin Rasmussen of
San Gabriel, California; one sister, Mrs. John (LilIian) Mcinerney of District
Heights, Maryland; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; a
number of nieces and nephews and a host of-friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Einar Rasmussen;
and two sisters, Mrs. Ella Larson and Mrs. Christina Jensen.
Jacobsen Funeral Home of St. Paul was in charge of arrangements.
