STAGE COMPANY AIDS IN VETERAN'S FUNERAL

Funeral services for P. A. Wingate, 95, Confederate veteran who died Sunday night, were held at 1 o'clock Wednesday afternoon from the chapel of H. M. Patterson & Son. The Rev. H. M. Patterson & Son. The Rev. George L. King, pastor of Martha Brown Memorial Methodist Church, officiated. Interment was in Hollywood Cemetery.

On the suggestion of a member of St. Luke's church, where they sang Christmas day, the members of the male chorus of the "My Maryland" company participated in the services, clad in the picturesque uniforms of the Confederacy. Four gray-clad guardsmen stood at attention with bayoneted muskets at the foot and head of the Confederate flag draped casket. The color bearers, carrying the stars and bars and the stars and stripes as symbols of a reunited nation, stood behind the minister.

The male chorus sang "Nearer My Soul to Thee." "Jesus, Lover of My Soul" and "Abide With Me." The chapel service closed with "Taps" sounded by a bugle. Then the casket was carried to the awaiting hearse between the lines of the uniformed guard of honor.

The pallbearers were A. J. Wingate, Jr., J. W. Wingate, L. B. Wingate, M. R. Johnson, W. R. Johnson and O. P. Wingate.
