"Kenneth enlisted in the California National Guard in 1925, and came up through the ranks until commisioned a Second Lieutenant in 1931. As a member of the 40th Infantry division he was called to active duty with that orginization in 1941. Went to Fort Benning, GA to attend basic company officers course (then called rifle and heavy weapons course). In 1942 he attended the Command and General staff school at Fort Leavenworth, and the Following year he was pulled out of the division to attend a War Department general staff's task force force staff officers class. He was subsequently assigned to the operations division of the War Department General Staff in Washington. From the Pentagon, Kenneth went to the G-3 section, General Headquarters of the Far East Command, in 1945. Released from active duty in September 1946, he found he liked military life better and the following July was integrated into the Regular Army. Colonel Macomber was reassigned to the Far East command for duty as secretary, General staff, Supreme Commander for the Allied Powers."

Macomber has more than 30 years of service, having served all about the world. Before coming to Ft. Sam Houston, he was senior Army Advisor with the Military Advisory Assistance Group in Vietnam
