Spanish American War veteran. He served in Company K, 160th Indiana Infantry.

Charles not only served his country in the war, but he also served his community as Mayor of Springfield Oregon in the early 1920's.

He was a candy maker learning the trade in Indiana where he grew up. Hard candies were his specialty and he even invented a cough drop in the early part of the twentith century that was distributed through-out the United States.

He and Myrtle owned and opperated a local business named, "Eggimann's" in Springfield for more than 17 years where families and members of the community gathered.

Charles was a memeber of, The Grand Lodge of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Oregon; Liberty Lodge No. 171.
