Violet Goldine Cole, the fourth child of Rev and Mrs. H.D. Cole was born December 2, 1910, on the John Guttery farm in Reno County, Kansas, near Sterling., where her parents lived and farmed for a number of years. She departed this life in the Dodge City Hospital, October 2, 1930, age 19 and 10 months. She was converted very early in life. At the age of 3 she seemed to have a very clear knowledge of Christ and accepted Him as her Savior. At that age she could and did repeat the Lord's Prayer from memory and everyone who heard her marveled at the clearness of her understanding and at the accuracy of her expression at so early an age. She was a faithful worker in the vineyard of her Master. She always loved the church and always gave its services her choice above worldly services. She was baptized at the age of 9 by her father. She was sanctified in the Nazarene Church in Emporia, Kansas, six years ago. She was a lover of good books and especially the Bible. She read a great deal, as much as her strength would allow, and she acquired what she read. She was graduated from Cimarron high school in May 1930, with a good grade. Much of the time for the past eight years she had been in poor health and suffered much, but to our knowledge she never complained, not even so much as to say, "Why must I suffer?" Two years ago she was afflicted with tuberculosis in the last stage and was healed through faith and prayer. Her last illness was an acute attack of heart trouble which last but two weeks and one day. She made all plans for her funeral several days before the end.came. She choose her minister, called him and told him just how to conduct the services, choosing the scripture and the songs. Her home going was one to be desired. Her last request of the family was that they all meet her in heaven. In response, each kissed her, bade her good-by and promised to meet her. When the end came she passed peacefully on to her heavenly home, asleep in Jesus. It was hard for us to part with her but, oh, how sweet was her going and such consolation to know that we shall meet again to part no more. She leaves to mourn her departure, father, mother, two brothers and three sisters, and a large circle of relatives and friends. Our loss is her eternal gain, Rev. H.S. Hester, Pastor of Church of the Nazarene Sublette, Kansas was in charge of the funeral services which were held from the Church of the Nazarene in Cimarron, Kansas, Friday, October 3, 8:00 a.m. and internment was made in Peace Valley Cemetery, near Sterling, at 3 p.m. the same day.
