She was born in Hancock, MI. on February 20, 1923 daughter of the late Ivar and Anna (Kanninen) Helbacka.
Eleanore attended Paavola Elementary and Hancock High Schools.
In 1964 she married Edward Tapani in Hancock, MI. He preceded her in death in 1998.
She was employed at Houghton County Medical Care Facility as an LPN until her retirement. Eleanore was a lifetime area resident. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, knitting, crochets and word games.
Mrs. Tapani was survived by her loving children, Richard (Pat) Johnson of Quincy, MI. and Dorothy (Bill) Fournier of Coon Rapids, MN. 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by 9 brothers and 2 sisters.
