Mrs. Wm. Brenton died at her home south of Westmoreland on March 16th, 1909, after an illness of two weeks. Lucinda Hogan was born March 10, 1846, at Waveland, Indiana. When but four years of age, she moved with her parents to Bethany, Mo. She was married to Wm. Brenton, April 3, 1864, and in 1883 moved with her husband and family to Brown County, Kansas, thence to Pottawatomie County in 1889 where the family has lived ever since. Mrs. Brenton is the mother of twelve children-five sons and seven daughters; and other seven died in infancy.

When a girl of fourteen Mrs. Brenton united with the Baptist Church and has been a consecrated member ever since. At her death she held her membership in the Laclede Church and her death will be a great loss to the church as well as her own family and the community. She always had a large family about her to care for; was a mother to everybody, and no stranger was ever turned from her door while there was a bite to eat or a place to lay his head.

Services were held in Laclede Church on Wednesday, March 17 and the body was laid to rest in the Laclede cemetery. Rev. J. W. Bagles conducted the services.
