Anna Mickley Lutz is identified as the daughter of Joseph and Eliza (Hartman) Mickley in the book, The Genealogy of the Mickley Family of America..., written by Minnie F. Mickley, published in Mickleys Pennsylvania by Advertiser Printing House, c. 1893.

Anna's paternal grandfather, John Jacob Mickley, is a recognized Revolutionary War patriot, responsible for hauling the Liberty Bell from Philadelphia to Allentown to protect it from a possible British invasion of Philadelphia.

The marriage of Anna Mickley to Benjamin Lutz, on 26 Dec 1838, is recorded in the Marriage Records of Washington County, Maryland. The Lutz family continued to live in Washington County, where Benjamin worked as a blacksmith and invested in agricultural land.

Anna and Benjamin were the parents of five known children:

1. Hester Elizabeth "Hattie," m. Jacob G. Stouffer.
2. Susan, 1842-1848
3. Mary Ann, 1843-1892, m. Arthur Ellis.

Anna died 28 Dec 1868, at the age of 52 according to her headstone, but Benjamin remained a widower until his death in 1901.
