Samuel C. Phoenix, 68, of Chicago, formerly of Springfield, died Friday at St. Anthony's Hospital in Chicago. Surviving are his wife Lavina; one son, James; one sister Mrs. Emily Ohl; one brother John; and five grandchildren.

Services at Ellinger-Kunz and Davis Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
