Ulysses Grant Clark, a former Haxtun resident, and the brother-in-law of Ben Lyman of Dailey, passed away July 17 at a hospital in St. Joseph, Mo. He and his family moved to Sheridan, Mo. from Haxtun in 1924.
Mr. Clark was the son of the late Alexander and Cerrildia Clark and was born September 8, 1886 at Sheridan, Mo. He was 69 years, six months and 17 days old at the time of his passing.
He was united in marriage to Ruth Lyman on November 7, 1909 at Haxtun and to this union two daughters and one son were born. The son, Phillip, passed away at birth.
Funeral services sere held at the Methodist Church at Sheridan of which he was a member. Rev. Cole of Ravenwood, Mo. was in charge. Soloist was Mrs. Luther Cook who sang "The Old Rugged Cross", "Beyond the Sunset" and "Good Morning Up There."
Pallbearers were some of his old neighbors, Rollie Blaine of Clearmont, Mo., John James of Parnell, Mo., Kenneth Barks of Sheridan, Mo., Jack Campbell of Hopkins, Mo., Don Wake of Pickering, Mo., and Albert Lemon of Sheridan, Mo. Burial was in the Sheridan Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth, two daughters, Mrs. Vivian Garrard of Parnell, Mo., and Mrs. Verda Hilton of McMinnville, Ore. Also five grandchildren; two brothers, Sherman of Grant City, Mo., and John of Sheridan and two sisters, Mrs. Lavina Herndon of Parnell, Mo., and Mrs. Alice Lee of Shenandoah, Iowa.
