Death Of Dr. L. V. Bates. Aged 55.
Wednesday morning early when a patient of Dr. L. V. Bates called at his office, they found him lying on the floor, where he had fallen dead sometime during the night apparently with heart failure. He has had heart trouble for many years but seemingly was well and spent the afternoon before talking to friends and patients.
Dr. Bates came to Texas from Nevada about three years ago and practiced his profession in Dallas, Ft. Worth and this city, having come here over a year ago where he established a Physio-Medical Clinic.
He was a member of the Church of Christ for many years. He was also a staunch Mason, having been a member of that order for many years. Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock at Parkdale cemetery by Rev's Joe Barnhill and H. M Redford. Masons had charge at the close of the services. Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Roscoe Snyder, and two sons, Marvin Bates and David Bates. Out of town folks who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Bates of Waco, Mr. and Mrs. David Bates and son David, Jr., of Plainview, Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Snyder of Lockney, and Dr. Hayden Wilson Gates and his wife Dr. Rosa B. Gates of Waco. Mrs. Gates is a sister of Dr. Bates.
Dr. Bates studied at the Georgia College of Eclectic Medicine and Surgery in Atlanta, 1899.
