Edward P. Welch, 77, of Beech Creek, died Sunday, April 20, 2008 at the Lock Haven Hospital. He was born April 27, 1930 in McKeesport, a son of the late William and Sarah Cunningham Welch. He married Dorothy Poole on July 16, 1955 in Hyde City. She survives at home. Mr. Welch was a 1949 graduate of Lock Haven High School. He was employed by Piper Aircraft for 32 years and then with the Clinton County Prison Department of Staffing until his retirement in February 1993. He was a member of the Beech Creek Wesleyan Church. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1952 to 1953. Mr. Welch was a life member of the Beech Creek American Legion. He was a past member of the Beech Creek School Board and enjoyed spending time with his family, particularly his grandchildren. He was current and past mayor of Beech Creek. Surviving, besides his wife, are two daughter, Kathy J. Slivka of Bangor and Pamela Kinley of Middletown, Del.; a son, Edward A. Welch of Lancaster, and 8 grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Kader-Neff Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 135 W. Main St., Howard, with the Rev. Alan S. Eckenroad officiating. Burial will be in Hays-Fearon Cemetery, Beech Creek, with military rites. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Beech Creek Wesleyan Church, Box 39, Beech Creek, Pa. 16822.
