As kids when we would go to the store with my mother, he would come along and chat with us and give us a nickle to buy some candy at the store near the school that was ran by Mrs. Lena Krohn Scarbobough and Mr. Logan Scarborough. Folks would meet up at the store and visit, shop and then take off to their own homes. We would always see many of the elders there at the store and we knew most of the people in the community because they were related in one way or the other.
We were always use to seeing him around his property or at the store. When we lose the elders in the community, that had been a part of our lives, it makes an impact on you and you never forget them.
The old Scarborough store is now long gone as well as Mr. Logan, Mrs. Lena and Uncle Sim, but they have not been forgotten. I will always remember.
